Expectations shape how reality gets interpreted and a lot of them were built during moments that left marks. When something painful happens the mind tries to protect itself by predicting what will happen next, and over time that prediction starts feeling like truth. Conversations get filtered through old fears, opportunities look like threats, and people get judged before they even speak. Living like that creates distance from what is actually happening right now. Growth begins when a person takes responsibility for their own perception instead of assuming the world is the problem. Rebuilding perspective takes practice, patience, and honest self review, but little by little the grip of old narratives weakens and space opens for better choices and healthier connections.
