TUDCA is an ancient remedy that has been used in Chinese medicine and is still prescribed for certain liver diseases in Japan today.
Bile is made by the liver and stored and concentrated in the gallbladder. It’s released when you eat to help break down fat and absorb nutrients from fat, including fat-soluble vitamins and phytonutrients. Bile is also antimicrobial, helps remove excess cholesterol, and helps increase GLP-1.
If you’re deficient in bile, try taking 200 mg of ox bile after a meal.
Unlike ox bile, which remains in the digestive system, TUDCA is water-soluble and can travel outside the digestive system and throughout the entire body. TUDCA supports healthy bile flow through the liver and bile ducts and helps increase insulin sensitivity.
TUDCA doesn’t break down fat, so ox bile is better suited for supporting fat digestion. Try taking 250 mg of TUDCA on an empty stomach twice per day.
